Police were seeking a wanted male who failed to stop in the Whakatane area this afternoon.
A series of incidents followed in which a vehicle caught on fire and a police vehicle was damaged.
A 31 year old male was taken into custody and will appear in the Whakatane District Court tomorrow facing a number of charges.
