A man has been arrested in Opotiki following a pursuit along State Highway 2 tonight.
A police patrol car was rammed during the pursuit, a Police spokesperson said.
“At around 5:50 pm in the Wainui Road area a vehicle was seen driving at excess speed. When the vehicle failed to stop, Police initiated a pursuit.”
“The patrol car was rammed by the offending vehicle before fleeing again. Police abandoned the pursuit. There was damage to the patrol cars but no one was injured.”
The vehicle was seen again, and Police again followed the car. The vehicle was spiked and came to a stop on Richard Street, where the driver was arrested.
