Council has held most fees at the Whakatāne Refuse Transfer Station since 2015 but new increases take effect from 1 July 2021.
The cost to dispose of all types of tyres has increased by $1.00 per item. The fee to dispose of a black bag of rubbish will remain the same while the cost of other quantities of general and green waste will increase.
The new prices reflect Central Government cost increases in the Waste Levy charge (from $10 to $60 per tonne between 2021-2025), and Emission Trading Scheme charges (from $10 per tonne in 2019 to over $40 per tonne in 2021).
