STEM Wana Trust is a charity trust aiming to promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics among young Kiwis.

On Wednesday STEM hosted a Precious Plastic Project in The Ohope Hall.

Project co-ordinator Ewa Saar said a number of local parents and children learning new things about how to recycle plastic and why it’s important not to put milk bottle lids/other plastic caps into the recycling bin.

“Envirohub Bay of Plenty was showing us beautiful artworks (including clocks and earrings) that can be done with shredded and molten lids. Kids were engaging in a “build the biggest tower from lids” challenge, some spent an hour constructing their towers.
